The Land Transport Department has issued a press release following a vehicle fire at the KOTIBA Petrol Station in Kampung Salambigar last Monday.
According to the release, the vehicle has been found to be on fire while filling up. According to investigation conducted, the car was found in a dilapidated condition and not safe for use. The press release also highlighted an increasing number of vehicle fires occurring nowadays and there were a number of causes for the fires such as poor vehicle maintenance, uncertified modifications, improper wiring which results in a short-circuit in the wiring. Following the incident, the department advises vehicle owners and drivers to always adhere to the road regulations for mutual safety.
