Vehicle Registration Service

Following the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications press release on the 9th and 21st of August 2021, the Land Transport Department, LTD shares the updates on the vehicle registration service, Highway Code test and LTD online services.

Vehicle registration service covering new and used import vehicles which are already in the country is still being carried out via SOPs according to stipulated procedures and in line with the advice from the Ministry of Health. Meanwhile, as of Monday, 13th of September 2021, the LTD will enhance the capacity to process back-end vehicle registration, using the de-centralization method. With the added capacity to process vehicle registration, the LTD will be able to process up to an estimated 250 applications a week at this time and will be gradually increased according to the LTD’s Business Continuity Plan.

The LTD will also re-open Highway Code Tests via online starting Tuesday, 14th September 2021. Driving students wishing to sit for the test are advised to contact their respective driving schools for bookings and test procedures. Priority will be given to students who have made bookings beforehand. Meanwhile, the public specifically intending driving students, are adviced to contact the driving school directly to obtain further information. The list of driving schools in the country can be obtained from the LTD website www.jpd.gov.bn. In the meantime, the re-opening of Driving Tests and Trainings which are still postponed for the time being, is being reviewed, taking into account the development of the country’s COVID-19 situation.

In August 2021, 4,827 applications for Driving Licences and 2,625 applications for Vehicle Licences were received by Talian Darussalam 123. Meanwhile, 10,161 online applications for Driving Licences and 3,432 applications for Vehicle Licences were made via the portal www.gov.bn or mobile application TransportBN. Therefore, the LTD will open an additional 3 call lines to facilitate the public in contacting the LTD. The department has also provided ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ on the department’s official website www.jpd.gov.bn or Instagram @ jpdbrunei for the latest information on the service. Meanwhile, the department’s other services will be re-opened instages in the near future.
