The 15th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime, AMMTC held virtually yesterday morning at the International Convention Centre, Berakas. The meeting was chaired by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Second Minister of Defence as Chairman of the National Security Committee.
Yang Berhormat in his speech appreciated the continued support by all ASEAN Member States during Brunei Darussalam’s chairmanship of the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational crime this year. Yang Berhormat also explained, the country will continue to support regional and international efforts towards combating transnational crime by focusing on the opportunities and challenges faced by ASEAN countries in the post-COVID-19 era. The Minister explained that AMMTC needs to strengthen the level of cooperation with sectoral bodies and ASEAN dialogue partner countries to assist in recovery efforts during the current COVID-19 crisis.
Also present at the meeting was His Excellency Dato Paduka Lim Jock Hoi, ASEAN Secretary-General. The country’s delegation at the meeting was led by Dato Paduka Awang Haji Sufian bin Haji Sabtu, Permanent Secretary for Security, Enforcement and Law at the Prime Minister’s Office.
