Visit to Sembawang Air Base

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam visited the Republic of Singapore Air Force at Sembawang Air Base.

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by His Excellency Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Defence, Republic of Singapore; Lieutenant-General Melvyn Ong, Chief of Defence Force, Singapore Armed Forces; and Major-General Kelvin Khong, Chief of Air Force, Republic of Singapore Air Force.

His Majesty and His Excellency then proceeded to inspect the Guard of Honour that was mounted by members of the Republic of Singapore Air Force.

His Majesty was briefed on developments under the Republic of Singapore Air Force as well as the modernisation of its assets such as the H225M Medium Lift Helicopter.

His Majesty later boarded the H225M helicopter, a modern multi-role helicopter that meets operational demands of the Republic of Singapore Air Force for operations such as Search and Rescue, aeromedical evacuation and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief operations.

At the end of the visit, His Majesty was briefed on the Aster 30 missile system, an air defence operation which has been integrated into Republic of Singapore Air Forces’ Island Air Defence System.
