Visitor and Carer Policy in Government Hospitals

The Minister of Health also informed that starting yesterday, the media conference on the latest COVID-19 situation will only be held 3 times a week which is every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Also shared was the recently updated Visitor and Carer Policy in Government hospitals which aims to safeguard the safety and well-being of all visitors, patients and hospital staff from exposure to the risk of COVID-19 infection.

The Ministry of Health reminded that hospital visits are only allowed for the critically or terminally ill patients, and not allowed for other patients at this time. In this regard, all visitors who wish to visit critically or terminally ill patients are requested to comply with all instructions given by the staff while in the hospital.

The Ministry of Health clarifies further and emphasizes that the number of people allowed to visit the critically or terminally ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit, ICU or Cardiac Care Unit, CCU or in the wards are only 2 immediate family members at any one time; ART certificates must be shown to the hospital staff prior to entering the ICU, CCU or wards while visiting the critically or terminally ill patients. However, one carer is permitted for any patient according to the guidelines currently in force.
