Reviving the Young Farmer’s Programme is one of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports’ strategies in attracting the youth to be involved in agriculture. The ministry has taken measures to promote the agriculture programme to students from higher education institutions in the country. This was stated by Yang Berhormat (Retired) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports during a Muzakarah or Discussion session between the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and Members of the Legislative Council yesterday morning.
According to Yang Berhormat, in upholding the aspirations of His Majesty to revive the Young Farmer’s Programme, the ministry has further increased cooperation with the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism and agriculture-oriented companies as strategic partners. The Minister said the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism will provide basics, land models and suitable courses, while the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports will identify potential youths.
The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports also shared on the upgrading project of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, which has completed the first phase. Yang Berhormat said the second phase is currently ongoing, which includes face-lifting, structural repair and layout change, apart from improving safety and increasing the capacity to 30 thousand people.
Leading the Legislative Council members at the Muzakarah session was Yang Berhormat Dayang Khairunnisa binti Awang Haji Ash’ari, Member of the Legislative Council. In her speech, Yang Berhormat Dayang Khairunnisa expressed appreciation for the efforts and success that have been achieved by the ministry specifically in involving the youth as committee members in several national activities. Present were Yang Berhormat Pehin Jawatan Dalam Seri Maharaja Dato Seri Utama Doctor Haji Awang Mohd Jamil Al-Sufri bin Begawan Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Seri Paduka Haji Awang Umar, Principal of the Brunei History Centre. A briefing on the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports was delivered by Datin Paduka Doctor Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
