The Youth Development Centre already has a Unit for youth entrepreneurship development known as the Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Unit, whose main role is to provide a similar service to that of the entrepreneurship development programmed offered at the Youth Centre in Bandar Seri Begawan, but specifically targeted to trainees or former trainees of the Youth Development Centre. Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports disclosed the matter in response to a question raised regarding the entrepreneurship unit.
Among the programs conducted by this unit are basic entrepreneurship education, entrepreneurship week, financial management, business consultation, independent youth program, youth entrepreneurship program and sales expos. Meanwhile, the youth entrepreneurship programmed under the Youth Centre which started in 2011 also has a role to produce youth entrepreneurs who are innovative and productive. The program is open to youths and entrepreneurs who can enroll voluntarily. Among the activities offered by this program include a Youth Business Talk which is normally held once or twice annually, and Business 101, which is a short entrepreneurship workshop on marketing and product branding held once a month. Yang Berhormat went on to say that these two initiatives offer variety in terms of choice for youths to acquire skills training and knowledge which can be applied in any fields of entrepreneurship.
