The role of youth in the nation’s development was discussed during the Youth Forum that was held in conjunction with Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA’s 8th Mahrajan Hafl Al-Takharruj.
The forum panelists comprised of successful and experienced local youths who have contributed to the country’s development. This includes Yang Berhormat Awang Iswandy bin Ahmad, member of the Legislative Council; and Pengiran Haji Ahmad Fadhillah Akhbar bin Pengiran Haji Sallehuddin, Co-founder of ‘Bina Ukhwah’ Project. With the title ‘Belia Berkepimpinan Menjayakan Wawasan Negara’ or Youth with Leadership, Making a Success of Wawasan Negara, the forum among other things highlighted on the role and importance of the youth’s involvement in volunteerism and the community. In attendance was Doctor Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, the Rector of UNISSA.
Apart from the forum, a jawi calligraphy competition was also held which was divided into 3 categories. The competition was held with the aim to attract the attention of the public towards jawi calligraphy aside from promoting Islamic art. Such an activity upholds the efforts to empower the art of jawi calligraphy among students to realise the country’s aspiration in becoming a Zikir Nation.
