A total of 5,886 positions are available for job seekers in the 2023 Oplan Kabuhayan Job Fair at the SM City Davao-Annex Activity Center on Sept. 23, the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) here said Friday.
In an interview, PESO-Davao manager Lilibeth Pantinople said 31 local employers are expected to open 1,925 job vacancies, while eight overseas employers will offer 3,961 employment slots during the fair.
Most of the local job vacancies, she said, are for delivery riders, operations management trainees, and drivers, while the top jobs abroad are for nurses, medical laboratory technologists, and on-call cleaners.
Based on past job fairs, Pantinole said about 10 percent of applicants were hired on the spot or a few weeks after applying.
Applicants will not only have the chance to secure job opportunities but also avail themselves of free legal assistance and counsel for any employment-related concerns, she added.
Meanwhile, Lorraine Grace Ugsang, the Department of Labor and Employment in Davao Region (DOLE-11) focal person, said the employment rate in Davao Region has “marginally improved” from 96.2 percent in April 2022 to 96.7 percent during the same period this year.
PESO-Davao and DOLE-11 offer various employment assistance programs such as free pre-employment seminars to prepare jobseekers for hiring and improve their chances of being hired, Ugsang said.
Applicants should bring five copies of their resume along with a certificate of employment (if applicable) and a birth certificate.
The City Social Welfare and Development Office, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, and the Philippine Statistics Authority will also set up their assistance desk during the event.
