DepEd warns anew vs. fake cash aid for graduates

MANILA: The Department of Education (DepEd) warned the public to be vigilant against fake cash aid grants for graduating learners. DepEd Undersecretary Michael Poa said in a Viber message late Sunday that the fake posts use the agency's logo. 'Wala pong ganyang programa ang DepEd (We don't have such a program in DepEd),' he said. 'Mag-ingat po tayo sa mga ganitong posts at huwag po tayong magbigay ng mga personal na impormasyon sa mga ito (Let's be careful of these kinds of posts and do not give personal information).' Two fake advisories offer PHP8,000 worth of cash aid to graduating students from elementary to college, with deadlines for submission of requirements on May 20 and 29. The cash assistance shall be given in exchange for a Philippine Statistics Authority-issued birth certificate, and good moral character certificate and report card from the school. The DepEd earlier said the public must refrain from providing such details, since the welfare of learners may be compromised. The public, meanwh ile, may send their complaints to [email protected].
