Fugitive in national ‘most wanted’ list caught in Laguna

CALAMBA: An alleged repeat sex offender who was being sought for multiple crimes and is listed among the nation's most wanted persons was apprehended in this city on Monday. Col. Gauvin Mel Unos, acting director of the Laguna Provincial Police Office (LPPO), told reporters on Tuesday that the suspect, identified only as 'Noel,' was finally caught by agents of the Calamba City Police Station (CCPS) in his hiding place in Barangay Real. The informant of the suspect's whereabouts would receive a government reward amounting to PHP130,000. Unos said Noel had outstanding arrest warrants issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 8 in this city for two counts of rape with no recommended bail. Further, the suspect was subject to separate arrest warrants for acts of lasciviousness and alleged offenses related to Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act. "I commend the Laguna police, especially the Calamba City Police Station, for the arrest of this accused, who is listed as a national-level most wanted person," Unos said. The suspect is currently detained in the custodial facility of the CCPS. "We will not allow those who violate the law to move freely. The primary goal of the Laguna Police is to deliver justice to all victims of crime," Unos said. Source: Philippines News Agency
