PRO-1 gives cash aid to cops affected by Typhoon Egay

A total of 147 police officers from Region 1 have been included for the distribution of financial assistance to help them recover from the impact of Typhoon Egay last July. The Ilocos Police Regional Office (PRO-1) started the distribution of the cash aid, totaling PHP799,300, on Tuesday, Cpl. John Patrick Soriano, member of the Police Information Office, told the Philippine News Agency. 'Some personnel really need financial assistance for emergency or calamity purposes and there is an allocated fund for it,' he said, noting that some PRO-1 personnel also provided cash donations. Of the total, Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO) received PHP458,000 since the province was the hardest hit during the onslaught of the typhoon. Ilocos Norte PPO got over PHP129,000, La Union PPO, over PHP25,000; Pangasinan PPO, over PHP71,000; the Regional Mobile Force Battalion, PHP28,500; and the PRO-1 personnel, around PHP87,000. 'The amount of financial aid varies on the extent of damages left by the typhoon,' PRO-1 said in a statement. There are 6,878 police personnel in the four provinces of the region.
