The Brunei Gastronomy Week aims to celebrate diverse tastes of Bruneian cuisine, and raise the profile of Brunei’s culinary diversity and expansive gastronomy. In this matter, the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism encouraged more hotels and restaurants to serve Bruneian cuisines in a more sophisticated way such as to elevate the presentation of Bruneian dishes to be served as part of a fine dining experience or during receptions held within or outside the country. Speaking at the launching of Brunei Gastronomy Week yesterday afternoon, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong also stressed that gastronomy is a major driver for tourists when choosing a destination. Tourist’s wishes to experience the local tastes in the destinations and accommodation facilities have prepared the ground for the development of gastronomy tourism.
The function ran concurrently with the Brunei Gastronomy Award Ceremony for The Best Taste; The Best Presentation; The Most Creative; The Most Innovative and The Best Wholesomeness. The winners were Rizqun International Hotel, Empire Hotel and Country Club, Radisson Hotel and Brunei Hotel.
The Brunei Gastronomy Week is an annual initiative by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism and the Brunei Tourism Board, organised in conjunction with the 35th National Day celebrations. The event will commence starting the 23rd of this month to the 10th of March at all participating hoteliers and restaurants.
