Bangkok: The 48th Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation High Officials Meeting recently took place in Bangkok, Thailand, under the theme ‘Leading Through Learning: Empowering Schools and Communities in Southeast Asia.’ The gathering highlighted initiatives aimed at enhancing educational leadership and professional development within the region.
According to Radio Television Brunei, Doctor Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Hj Tajuddin, Permanent Secretary for Core Education at the Ministry of Education, represented Brunei Darussalam at the meeting. This year, Brunei Darussalam held the position of Chair for the In Camera and Plenary Sessions, fulfilling its role as the SEAMEO Council Presidency.
During the event, Brunei Darussalam presented its initiatives focused on school leadership and teacher professional development, with the goal of supporting the growth and leadership capabilities of school leaders. Additionally, a panel discussion was conducted on strengthening teacher professional development systems across Southeast Asia, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning and empowerment for educators in the region.
