The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports through the Department of Community Development, JAPEM held the 4th Basic Sign Language Course yesterday MORNING with the aim to provide exposure to the public on the importance of sign language for the people with hearing impairment. The course was held at Pusat Bahagia.
The workshop was officiated by Dayang Saidah binti Haji Wahid, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. Earlier, Awang Khairul Anwar bin Haji Jofari, President of the National Association of the Hearing Impaired, OKP said school offices and public areas have started using the sign language. This shows that the community is now more accepting towards special needs people, as the use of sign language as a form of daily communication is now increasing. The 3-day course coincided with a sharing session with the hearing impaired titled Suaramu Ku Dengar' delivered by Dayang Rabiatul Adawiyah binti Osman Zaini.
