7th Nationwide Youth Al-Quran Tadarus Gathering Ceremony at the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque

Over one thousand female youths participated in the Nationwide Youth Al-Quran Tadarus Gathering Ceremony at the Omar Ali Saifuddien mosque in the capital. Gracing the ceremony was Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah binti His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah.

Upon arrival, Her Royal Highness was greeted by Datin Nurhayana Janis binti Abdullah Lim, the wife of the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports and Datin Paduka Doctor Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

The ceremony began with the reading of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Dayang Hajah Norfaezah binti Haji Emran, Champion of the National Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran for Adults 2018.

The function was followed by the reading of Khatam Al-Quran led by Dayang Nur Hafizah binti Zulaini, a student of Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute.

The gathering ceremony is hoped to strengthen and reflect the youth determination in the efforts to realise His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's aspiration to produce an Al-Quran literate generation.

Takhtim was then read by the Dikir Group of the Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University, KUPU SB. While the Doa khatam was read by Dayang Nur Fa'aiqah Nazhimah binti Haji Zaini, a student of Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute.

The function was enlivened with the Dikir Marhaban by the KUPU Sb's Dikir Group. The reading of Doa Allah Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam was led by Dayang Hajah Norfaezah, to mark the end of the ceremony.

The gathering ceremony among other things aimed to enhance the youth's understanding on the importance of reading and appreciating Al-Quran as life guidance to increase and strengthen cooperation between involved agencies in developing the youth's education. It also provides an avenue for the youths to self-reflect on their role and responsibility to become better youth with Al-Quran education.
