Al-Mar’ah Syariah Education

The prominence of Islam as an all-encompassing religion has raised the honour of women towards a higher position as well as being given roles and responsibilities equal to men in carrying out the trust as Allah's caliphs on earth. Women play a vital role in achieving excellence in building up and shaping the society, country and race. This was among the matters discussed in the Al-Mar'ah Syariah Education Forum themed 'Optimising the Role and Productivity or Women in Development of the Nation and Race'. The forum held in conjunction with the 35th National Day Celebration took place yesterday afternoon at the Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College, KUPU SB.

Present was Datin Paduka Dr. Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. The forum was facilitated by 3 panel members namely Pengiran Dr. Hajah Norwidayawati binti Pengiran Haji Metusin, Deputy Dean of Syariah Faculty, KUPU SB; Dayang Nurul Nazurah binti Jaya, Community Development Officer, Community Development Department and Associate Professor Dr. Zahiri bin Awang Mat, Dean of Education Faculty, KUPU SB. Apart from being responsible in instilling proper life values as their children and family's life belief, women also play a vital role in the development of the country and race by venturing into various fields either government administration, public and private sectors specifically ones that are contributing to an increase in the nation's economy. Muslim women are also urged to always enhance the special characteristics that they possess, identifying, being confident in and taking advantage of their own strengths as well as driving it in any planned form so that they will be the motivators that are strong, creative and dynamic for the good of the ummah.

The forum among others aimed to enhance understanding on the laws and roles related to women and raise as well as discuss current issues linked to the empowerment of women's economy. Apart from that, it is hoped to act as a discussion platform on the proposals for current issues related to the strengthening of women's education to achieve Wawasan Brunei 2035. Also present was Dr. Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar, Ra'es of KUPU SB.
