The ASEAN Citation Index, ACI is a central regional database designed to index all bibliographic records and citations of all quality ASEAN research outputs. Starting only with 41 Thai Journals indexed in 2014, there are currently 407 journals from 9 member countries including one from Brunei which is the Brunei International Medical Journal. This was highlighted the Deputy Permanent Secretary (Higher Education), Ministry of Education in his remarks at the Editor's Workshop for ASEAN Citation Index and Scopus in Brunei, yesterday morning.
According to Dr Chin Wei Keh, the ministry sees the workshop as timely and among the many good initiatives taken up by higher education institutions to improve their quality and reputation. Dr. Chin also urged to all participants to set a target on the number of Brunei journals to be indexed in the next 5 years. He added the workshop will help develop the quality journals published in ASEAN to meet International standards, which will then lead to inclusion in ACI and Scopus index.
The workshop was conducted by members of ACI Steering Committee based in Thailand and was attended by 40 participants from UTB, UBD and Centre of Science Technology Research and Development, Ministry of Defence. 40 participants from UTB, UBD and Centre of Science Technology Research and Development, Ministry of Defence.
