Assimilating a Whole of Nation Approach

The First Meeting of the 16th Legislative Council Session commenced on its second day with motions of vote of thanks for the presence and titah of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam at the Opening Ceremony of the first Meeting of the 16th Legislative Council Session, 9th March.

Before approving the motion, the members of the Legislative Council deliberated and gave thanks for the titah of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, Speaker of the Legislative Council said that His Majesty's titah portrays the monarch's care and attention towards the people's well-being and the country's prosperity. This includes observing that the legislative council session's deliberations need to be more empowered and strong in highlighting national issues.

The Speaker of the Legislative Council believed that the members of the Legislative Council will provide a different touch compared to previous years by giving their respective ideas and are not limited to raising the same issues or queries that have been voiced in the previous years. By assimilating a Whole of Nation Approach, all efforts and initiatives will not be futile and will yield the desired outcomes.
