The 'BigStart' Competition is an entrepreneurial project held annually to support and uphold the National Education System for the 21st Century by giving exposure on entrepreneurship to students. Five teams were selected to the final and received a capital to take part in the 6th 'Bigstart' Competition for secondary schools and colleges. This year's competition was organised by the Co-Curriculum Education Department, Ministry of Education with the cooperation of Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, BIBD and Radio television Brunei, RTB.
The presentation of the capital was officiated by Awang Haji Mohammad Yusri bin Haji Wahsalfelah, Head of Government Relations and Special Projects Division, BIBD. Every team received 2 hundred dollars to operate a business for 8 weeks starting from today until the 22nd of October. Also present was Awang Mohamed Jais bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Acting Director of Co-curriculum Education, Ministry of Education.
With the theme 'Innovation - Ideas for Progress', the competition aimed to spark the students' creativity by planning a business project aside from grabbing the opportunity to learn more specific skills and knowledge which are required to establish social and commercial activities.
