The Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) yesterday conducted a blessing ceremony in conjunction with the departure of RBAF personnel that will be participating in the 12th International Monitoring Team (IMT) in Mindanao, Republic of the Philippines, as well as the RBAF peacekeepers of the United Nations Interim Force (UNIFIL) in Lebanon.
The event held at the Ministry of Defence’s Prayer Hall in Bolkiah Garrison was attended by the Commander of the RBAF, Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, as the guest of honour.
Also present were members of the Defence Executive Committee, Service Commanders and Commandants, Directors and officers of the Ministry of Defence and RBAF. The 12th IMT contingent will be led by Lt Colonel Azman bin Haji Bangkol and will comprise eight RBAF personnel and one Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) personnel.
Meanwhile, the 29 RBAF personnel for UNIFIL who will be led by Captain Mohd Faizi bin Haji Tarif will be embedded in the Malaysian Battalion 850-3 (MALBATT 850-3) prior to their deployment in Lebanon to conduct peacekeeping duties under the Malaysian contingent.
The event began with the recitation of the Al-Quran, followed by a recitation of the Surah Yaasiin, a mass Zohor prayer and a Doa Selamat to mark the end of the event.
