Muscat: Brunei Darussalam and the Sultanate of Oman have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of media. The signing ceremony occurred during a working visit by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence. The three-day visit commenced on April 28.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the MoU signing marks an event celebrating the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Sultanate of Oman, set to occur in 2024. This agreement aims to strengthen the existing bilateral relations between the two nations. The signing took place at the Ministry of Information in Muscat, Oman.
This renewal of the MoU, the third of its kind, seeks to promote collaboration in various media fields. Both countries will engage in the exchange of radio, television, and news materials, as well as programs of common interest, expertise sharing, and capacity building initiatives.
Before the MoU signing, the Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence had a courtesy meeting with His Excellency Dr Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Harrasi, Oman's Minister of Information.
During the visit, the Brunei delegation, led by the Minister, toured Oman TV studios. The delegation also visited the Muscat Book Fair and several notable sites in Oman, including the Royal Opera House, the National Museum of Oman, and the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. The delegation included Awang Ajman bin Haji Meludin, Permanent Secretary for Civil Service Governance at the Prime Minister's Office.
