Brunei Council for Welfare of Persons with Different Abilities Receives Prestigious ASEAN Award

Bandar seri begawan: The Brunei Council for the Welfare of Persons with Different Abilities, MKOKU, received the ASEAN Outstanding Social Welfare and Development Award (ASWADA). The biennial award is one of the highest recognitions in the region for government agencies, civil society organisations, and private sector partners who demonstrate exemplary initiatives in advancing social protection, social services, and inclusive development.

According to Radio Television Brunei, MKOKU Brunei is the third Civil Society Organization from Brunei Darussalam to receive this regional honour, marking another milestone in the nation’s continuing efforts to empower persons with disabilities and strengthen inclusive development. The recognition reflects MKOKU’s dedication as the national council for persons with disabilities, serving as a unifying platform to promote the rights, welfare, and empowerment of the differently-abled.

With the award, MKOKU Brunei strengthens its role in supporting national policies and initiatives while contributing to ASEAN’s shared commitment to social well-being and development.
