Suwon: Brunei Darussalam is moving forward with plans to integrate digital technology into its transportation sector as part of an initiative under the 12th National Development Plan. The Smart Transport System project aims to revitalize public transport in the nation, as highlighted by Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, the Minister of Transport and Infocommunications. This announcement was made during the Opening Ceremony of the Suwon Asia-Pacific Intelligent Transport Systems Forum 2025 in the Republic of Korea.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the forum also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to bolster cooperation in smart city development. This partnership aligns with the ASEAN-Republic of Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, demonstrating a commitment to national development priorities for both countries. The collaboration signifies a new era of cooperation, establishing a platform for innovation and the acceleration of digital transformation agendas. Her Excellency Pengiran Hajah Nooriyah binti Pengiran Lela Wijaya Pengiran Haji Yussof, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of Korea, was also in attendance.
