Bandar seri begawan: Brunei Darussalam joined the global community in celebrating World Environment Day. A total of 36 trees were planted during the 'Coastal Marvel" Tree Planting and Beach Cleaning Campaign in conjunction with World Environment Day 2026. Organised by the Department of Environment, Parks, and Recreation, Ministry of Development, the event took place at Seri Kenangan Beach Recreation Park, Tutong, 6th June morning.
According to Radio Television Brunei, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, Minister of Development, was present at the event. The activities commenced with a warm-up session before the tree planting began. Doctor Dayang Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak, Deputy Minister of Development, and Yang Berhormat Awang Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan, Member of the Legislative Council, were also in attendance. During the beach cleaning campaign, participants collected a total of 95.9 kilogrammes of waste, of which 63.9 kilogrammes were plastic. World Environment Day is celebrated with the aim of raising awareness and encouraging the involvement of all levels of society in preserving the environment.
