Brunei: The Brunei Darussalam Expedition from Forest to Reef 2025 was officially launched on the morning of 19th May, aiming to gather ecological data and document the biodiversity on Pulau Selirong and Pulau Pilong-Pilongan. The event was part of the Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition, MYCE 2025, and took place at the Mangrove Paradise Resort. The week-long expedition, starting on 19th May, focused on studying the biodiversity of the mangrove forests on Pulau Selirong and the marine ecosystem around Pulau Pilong-Pilongan.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the ceremony was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism. The research team includes local experts from Universiti Brunei Darussalam UBD, with international researchers from the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity, the Center for Ocean Plastic Studies from Kyushu University in Japan, Jejakin from Indonesia, and Sabah Wetlands and ADS Environmental Services from Malaysia.
