Brunei Darussalam is currently in the inter-monsoon season in which the country normally experience hot day and variable light winds in the morning and active development of thunderstorm clouds in the afternoon.
According to the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department, typically, thunderstorms mostly occur over inland areas during the evening and propagate out to the coastal and sea areas during late night to early morning. The inter-monsoon season is expected to last until end of May or early June. This week, unsettled weather conditions are forecasted with occasional heavy showers or thundershowers affecting many areas of the country, although some fair spells can be expected during the day. More active weather is expected to happen in the afternoon and evening of 12th, 14th and 16th of May.
Meanwhile, the sea state of Brunei waters is expected to be below point 5 meters throughout the week. During heavy showers or thundershowers, the risk of flash floods especially at low-lying and flood prone areas are expected to occur.
