Brunei Focuses on Food Security and Job Localization

Bandar seri begawan: Brunei is intensifying its efforts to boost domestic food production and provide job opportunities for locals as part of a broader strategy to strengthen food security and reduce reliance on imports.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the country is integrating modern agricultural technologies to enhance local food production. This initiative aims to not only secure food supplies but also potentially increase exports, thereby contributing to the nation’s economic growth.

In line with these efforts, Brunei has implemented a policy requiring companies to obtain a letter of confirmation to prioritize hiring locals before considering foreign workers. This measure is designed to help companies achieve optimal localization and provide more employment opportunities for citizens.

Furthermore, strategic and focused planning in education, particularly in teaching and religious schooling, is highlighted as crucial for achieving the objectives of Wawasan Brunei 2035. This vision aims to develop Brunei into a nation known for its educated and highly skilled population.
