Brunei-Hungary Diplomatic Relations Strengthened Through State Visit

Budapest: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, expressed that Brunei Darussalam and Hungary have enjoyed warm and friendly relations since establishing diplomatic ties in 1992. The Sultan highlighted that these relations have been fortified through increased interaction, particularly through people-to-people exchanges and cooperation within the ASEAN-EU framework. His Majesty made these remarks during a bilateral meeting with His Excellency Dr. Tamas Sulyok, President of Hungary, as part of His Majesty’s State Visit to Hungary.

According to Radio Television Brunei, His Majesty began the State Visit to Hungary by attending the State Welcoming Ceremony at Kossuth Lajos Square, Budapest. Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen. Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by President Dr. Tam¡s Sulyok. Together, they inspected the Guard of Honour mounted by members of the Hungarian Armed Forces, while the National Anthems of both countries were played.

Following the ceremonial greetings, His Majesty was introduced to members of the Hungarian delegation, while President Sulyok met with members of the Brunei Darussalam delegation.
