Registrations of locals for training to qualify for various jobs in the private sector including Foreign Direct Investment Companies continue to increase from the first day the Centre for Capacity Building, PPK Market Day was launched last Wednesday. By the 5th day, PPK Market Day has received registration of 3,105 locals in 13 types of programmes including Scaffolder, Rigger, Welder, Mechanical Fitter and Heavy Vehicle Driver. The Minister of Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister's Office clarified the matter on the 5th Market Day today that continued until yesterday.
Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamenteri Retired Colonel Dato Seri Setia (Doctor) Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar said the number of registration showed how much local citizens wish to fill the job vacancies in the country. Yang Berhormat also clarified that the handing over of the letter of appointment to the registered training organisations and presentation of employment-offer letters to the trainees from companies on Pulau Muara Besar can further generate job opportunities for locals. Yang Berhormat hopes that ministries, the private sector and the public would cooperate in generating jobs for Brunei citizens.
Successful Brunei citizens are expected to begin their programmes by September. Trainees will be given Conditional Offers of Employment from selected private companies and will undergo training before starting their respective careers.
