201 registered tourist guides have been recorded by the Tourism Development Department, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism since the basic tourist guide course was organised. Yesterday afternoon, 18 tourist guides received the Basic Tourist Guide Course certificates during a ceremony at the Ministry.
The certificates were handed over by Awang Wardi bin Haji Mohammad Ali, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism. The course held from the 24th of June to the 3rd of July was organised with the cooperation of Laksamana College of Business, the institution appointed by the Tourism Development Department to conduct the tourist guide training. It is a prerequisite of the department for anyone wishing to obtain a Tourist Guide License in the country. The course helps ensure that information given to tourist guides are accurate and factual as well as opens more job opportunities in the country.
