Since its first shipment using the S.S 'Bebatik' cargo vessel, previously known as 'Gadinia' on the 8th of December 1972, Brunei LNG has delivered over 200 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas. Brunei Gas Carriers Sendirian Berhad yesterday morning held a ceremony to mark the decommissioning of the S.S Bebatik at Brunei LNG in Lumut, Kuala Belait.
Present was Dato Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister of Energy and Industry. The Class B Vessel which was in service for more than 45 years had provided a safe and trusted shipping service for the Brunei LNG projects as well as fulfil more than 6 thousand 3 hundred cargo deliveries between Brunei Darussalam and Japan.
Since 1972, the vessel had recorded over 30 million miles since its first voyage with more than 4 thousand seamen reported to have worked on the vessel. Also present were His Excellency Motohiko Kato, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Brunei Darussalam and His Excellency Christian Ramage, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France to Brunei Darussalam.
