Depart From the People’s Republic of Bangladesh

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam left the People’s Republic of Bangladesh after a two-day State Visit. His Majesty’s first State Visit to Bangladesh was at the invitations of His Excellency Mohammad Abdul Hamid, President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, as well as Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.

 

Prior to departure, Doa Selamat was recited by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Dr. Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

 

Present at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka were His Excellency Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen, M.P., Foreign Minister of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Also present was His Excellency Haji Haris Haji Othman, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

 

During the State Visit, His Majesty met with both the President and Prime Minister as well as the Foreign Minister of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in Dhaka, and discussed matters to strengthen bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and Bangladesh including cooperation under the field of energy, food industry, agriculture, fisheries and connectivity.

 

Three Memoranda of Understanding on labour, shipping and energy and one Agreement on Air Services were signed during the State Visit. Both countries also discussed new cooperation opportunities that can be explored.

 

Also during the State Visit, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy as well as Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister of Home Affairs attended several side-events namely the Business Dialogue which focused on exploring ways to strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and Bangladesh; the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Ghanim International Corporation Sendirian Berhad and Zes Trading which aims to expand cooperation between both companies among others, through the distribution and selling of Bruneihalalfood products in Bangladesh; and the Launching ceremony of Bruneihalalfood products.

 

A Welcoming Ceremony and a State Banquet hosted by the President were held on the occasion of His Majesty’s State visit. A Joint Statement was issued at the conclusion of the State Visit.
