In an environment of uncertain global oil prices, Brunei Darussalam continues to emphasis its commitment to the production of upstream energy and fulfil the responsibility of exporting raw oil and liquefied natural gas, LNG to its clients. According to the Minister of Energy, the transformation of country's oil and gas sector has begun with the development of the downstream energy industry, including the Oil Refinery and Petrochemical Plants at Pulau Muara Besar.
Speaking at the dialogue session between the Ministry of Energy and Members of the Legislative Council, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mat Sunny bin Haji Md Hussein said the joint-venture with Japan for the First Global Hydrogen Supply Chain known as Advanced Hydrogen Energy Chain Association for Technology Development or Ahead has demonstrated the ability to transport hydrogen energy at atmospheric temperatures across the sea using conventional transportation. For the long term, the hydrogen energy will achieve the optimum price and become an alternative source of clean energy.
Yang Berhormat also expressed the hope that the country would be able to strengthen its position as a secure supplier besides encouraging economic growth through exports and sea exploration activities.
The dialogue session was attended by 15 Members of the Legislative Council led by Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Mohammed bin Pengiran Haji Osman@ Othman. It was chaired by the Minister of Energy. Also present was Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister of Energy.
