The Director-General of I-SESCO, yesterday afternoon, visited University Brunei Darussalam for a meeting on potential collaboration in academic and research fields.
Representing UBD at the meeting were Dayang Hajah Rubiah binti Haji Yacub, UBD Acting Vice Chancellor and senior management officials. During the meeting, His Excellency was given a presentation on UBD specifically on opportunities for Discovery Year and joint research in the matching research foci between UBD and I-SESCO.
His Excellency also went on a walking tour of the Botanical Research Centre (BRC) nature trail and visited the green house. The delegation viewed the different types of timber species, plants endemic to Brunei, orchids, pitchers and medicinal plants at the centre. BRC has identified about 200 herbal plants and 100 tree species in the five acres of tropical health forest locally known as 'kerangas'. The centre aims to enhance conservation and sustainable utilisation of the tropical timber and herb species that are commonly used as complementary medicine.
