Enthronement Ceremony of His Majesty Emperor of Japan

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, yesterday afternoon attended the Enthronement Ceremony of His Majesty Emperor Naruhito, the Emperor of Japan which was held at the Imperial Palace, Tokyo. Accompanying His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.

Upon arrival at the Imperial Palace, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was then invited to proceed to the Shunju-no-Ma Hall joining other distinguished guests who were attending the Ceremony.

The Enthronement Ceremony or the Sokui no Rei that is filled with customs and tradition began with the consecutive entrance of His Majesty Emperor Naruhito, and the entrance of Her Majesty Empress Masako into the Seiden Matsu-no-Ma Hall.

At the hall, Their Majesties then respectively ascended to the Imperial Throne or the Takamikura and the August Seat or the Michodai, before His Majesty the Emperor delivered his Royal Address.

At the end of the Ceremony, His Majesty the Emperor of Japan and Her Majesty the Empress of Japan then proceeded to leave the Seiden Matsu-no-Ma Hall.

After the Enthronement Ceremony, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the other distinguished guests then proceeded to depart the Imperial Palace.
