Fair weather, isolated rain showers to continue across PH

MANILA: Fair weather with isolated rain showers will still prevail across the archipelago on Thursday, the weather bureau said. "Because the low-pressure area (LPA) is still far and is yet to affect the country, fair weather will continue to prevail," Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said. The cloud cluster that developed into an LPA on Wednesday was last tracked at 1,080 km. east of southeastern Mindanao, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). Aurelio said it is likely to enter PAR on Thursday and head towards Eastern Visayas and the eastern section of Luzon. "It could possibly develop into a tropical cyclone and will be named Aghon," he said. Meanwhile, 43 areas are forecast to experience danger-level heat indices. PAGASA expects the heat index, or what the temperature feels like to the human body when relative humidity is combined with the air, to peak at 47°C in Guiuan, Eastern Samar. A 46°C heat index is like ly in Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Aparri, Cagayan; and Butuan City, Agusan del Norte.
