As an established organization recognized by 'The Joint Commission for International Accreditation (JCIA)', the training and appointment of fire marshals is one of the key strategies in ensuring fire safety and preparedness. By equipping fire marshals with the necessary knowledge and proficiency, the risk of a fire occurring as well as its possible damaging effects can be minimised and prevented. This was stated by the Minister of Health during the Fire Evacuation Marshal Certification Ceremony with Fire Rescue Department this morning. The function took place at the Lecture Theatre, Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre.
Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doktor Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar who is also the Chairman and Executive Director of the Jerudong Park Medical Centre, JPMC said fire marshals play an important role in evacuations as well as containing and tackling small blazes.
More than 150 trained staff who completed the 3-day Fire Marshall course received their respective certificates. Throughout the course, the participants were provided with theoretical knowledge and practical exercises on real-life fire scenarios. Also present was Lim Hock Guan, Acting Director of Fire and Rescue.
