Halal Business Investment Seminar

The global halal market is lucrative. Key to this is a fast-growing muslim world population that when projected for the year 2030 will reach 2.2 billion people with a resulting market value at 2.3 Trillion US dollars. Brunei Darussalam is working towards positioning itself as a hub for the halal industry growth within BIMP EAGA and ASEAN. The focus is the advancement of the country's halal food and beverages, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. The realising of this growth objective not only requires knowledge of viable export markets with suitable market access strategies. The premises is not just to link Brunei Darussalam with the Asia Pacific market and beyond but also to do it in a sustainable and growth-conducive manners. These was highlighted by Dayang Hajah Tutiaty Binti Haji Abdul Wahab, the Deputy Permanent Secretary for Management, Cooperatives and Industry at the Ministry of Energy (Energy and Manpower) and Industry in her welcoming remarks at Halal Business Investment seminar commenced yesterday afternoon.

The Halal Business seminar is a vital agenda in supporting the growth of the local Macro small and medium Enterprises, MSMEs and enabling the further development of the halal industry. The Brunei Economic Development Board-BEDB facilitates foreign investment into the country working closely with investor to understand business needs by providing necessary information on development requirements, laws and regulations. Mr Loo Yau Soon,The Chief Executive Officer Of BEDB said the briefing focused on strategic initiatives through the systematic development of export-oriented industries.

The Scientific Officer of Halal Food Control Division at the Ministry of Religious Affairs meanwhile explained the importation and halal certification of processed meat products.

The Chief Executive Officer of Ghanim International Cooperation Sendirian Berhad also explained how the company promotes Brunei Darussalam's halal products in the international markets.
