Audio Books allow visually impaired people to listen and obtain knowledge. Towards giving information to the group, eleven students were selected to each receive an Audio Book. The books were handed over at the Brunei Book Fair and Empowering the Reading Culture Carnival.
Awang Haji Ali Yusri bin Haji Abdul Ghafor, Acting Head of Special Education Unit received the book on behalf of the Special Education Unit. The audio book was donated by the book's author, Norhafsah Hamid from Malaysia. It was presented in the form of Compact Discs titled: "Trying to be Muslim". According to the author, the idea to publish the audio book came after a visually impaired person wanted to read her book.
The Acting Head of Special Education Unit said, the initiative to publish the book is very good especially for students requiring it. Awang Haji Ali Yusri stated that the book would certainly help students especially those under the Special Education Unit. He added that the book will begin a new era from the Unit which will further transform the mind-set and views on ways to assist these students especially those who are visually impaired. He also called on parents to collaborate with the Special Education Unit, Ministry of Education in looking towards their children's success in their future studies regardless of their condition.
