His Majesty Advocates Enhanced ASEAN-UN Collaboration on Climate Change at Summit

Bandar seri begawan: His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam participated in the 15th ASEAN-United Nations Summit held on the night of October 27th. During the summit, His Majesty delivered a titah emphasizing the United Nations’ pivotal role in humanity’s progress over the past eight decades. He highlighted the U.N.’s contributions in reducing extreme poverty and hunger, as well as in advancing public health and fostering global cooperation.

According to Radio Television Brunei, His Majesty stressed the importance of ASEAN’s efforts in complementing the U.N.’s agenda, particularly in addressing the pressing global threat of climate change. He advocated for closer collaboration between the U.N. and the ASEAN Centre for Climate Change to further ASEAN’s climate objectives, aiming for a sustainable and resilient future for all.

His Majesty also conveyed Brunei Darussalam’s endorsement of the “U.N. EIGHTY” initiative, which seeks to reaffirm the principles of multilateralism and enhance the U.N.’s responsiveness in promoting peace, development, and sustainability.
