His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, attended a Wreath-laying Ceremony held at the Memorial of the Unknown Soldier, Nasr City, Arab Republic of Egypt.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Major General Emad El Ghazaly, Commander of the Central Army. This was followed by the national anthems of Brunei Darussalam and the Arab Republic of Egypt.
His Majesty was then invited to lay a wreath on the monument. As a show of respect, His Majesty also visited the tomb of President Anwar Sadat.
The Memorial of the Unknown Soldier is a pyramid-shaped monument located in Nasr City, Cairo. Its construction was ordered by President Anwar Sadat in 1974 to honour the victims of the Yom Kippur war, also known as Ramadhan war or October war of 6 October 1973. The Memorial was inaugurated in October 1975. The site was also chosen for President Sadat's tomb.
