His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei Attends Bilateral Meeting with Vietnam’s Prime Minister

Kuala Lumpur: His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam held a Bilateral Meeting with His Excellency Ph?m Minh Ch­nh, the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. During the meeting, His Majesty expressed condolences on the passing of the late President Tran Duc Luong and recalled their interactions, particularly during the State Visit to Brunei in 2001. His Majesty appreciated the invitation to visit Viet Nam and looked forward to scheduling a visit at a mutually convenient time. Both leaders acknowledged the enduring Comprehensive Partnership between Brunei and Viet Nam, particularly in trade, energy, and people-to-people exchanges. His Majesty suggested establishing meaningful targets for further development in strategic cooperation areas, guided by the Plan of Action.

According to Radio Television Brunei, His Majesty welcomed Viet Nam's interest in forming an energy partnership, which includes joint ventures and the supply of crude oil. He emphasized that there are many opportunities to deepen economic linkages in agriculture, aquaculture, and the halal industry. His Majesty noted that collaboration on food and supply chain security would benefit both nations amidst current geopolitical and geo-economic uncertainties.

His Majesty expressed interest in leveraging Viet Nam's expertise to enhance Brunei Darussalam's food security efforts. He concluded by highlighting the importance of people-to-people exchanges in education and defense, which have strengthened friendships and understanding between the two countries.
