Some 15,000 citizens and residents in the Brunei Muara District joined the Get-Together and junjung Ziarah ceremony that took place in a harmonious atmosphere. No words can be said other than the gratefulness of the citizens and residents for the presence of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam at the ceremony with his subjects. The close ties between the monarch and his subjects have made the ceremony a memorable one.
The joyousness of the junjung ziarah ceremony can be felt when His Majesty visited the special tents and received junjung ziarah from the attendees. They comprise of residents representing the 17 mukims of Brunei Muara District, uniformed associations, bodies and organisations as well as students studying abroad.
Accompanying His Majesty at the junjung ziarah ceremony were;
- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office;
- His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah;
- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik; and His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.
The closeness and direct interaction between the monarch and his subjects can be clearly seen at the junjung ziarah ceremony. The special ceremony is a symbol of thanks to His Majesty and gratefulness to Allah Subahanahu Wata'ala for blessing the country with a monarch who possesses leadership, responsibility, care and attention as well as love for his subjects.
Under His Majesty's wise leadership, as a government administration centre, Brunei Muara District continues to develop at a rapid pace. Brunei Muara District has more than 280 thousand residents under 17 mukims. His Majesty through the Mukim and Village institutions continuously stresses on the importance of grassroots leaders including mukim penghulus and village chiefs to give serious attention to their respective areas for the welfare of His Majesty's residents.
Even though only able to meet the beloved monarch within a limited period of time, such a ceremony can produce an invaluable impact, generating unity and solidarity in strengthening the existing closeness between a monarch and his subjects. 9 hundred uniformed personnel took part in the Get-Together and junjung ziarah ceremony.
A number of contests, competitions and activities were lined up by the celebratory committee members to further enliven the event in conjunction with His Majesty's birthday celebration. As an appreciation and in response to the Titahs proposed by His Majesty of which the directive is to move forwards, the citizens and residents at all levels need to be proactive with a transformation of their respective mindset directed towards the development of a community and nation that is progressive, competitive and more innovative as well as creative.
Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah is an institution that has successfully produced achievers. With the initiative of His majesty's government, the organisation and agency have been able to produce successful manpower and provided excellent services. Their achievement is in line with the monarch's Wawasan 2035 objective whereby His Majesty aspires to make Brunei Darussalam renowned throughout the world with high educated, skilled and successful citizens.
Various programmes have and are being carried out in producing skilled human resources among youths. The establishment of Capacity Building Centre, PPK, is among the government's latest initiatives that offer training to locals in order for them to qualify for various employments in the private sector including direct foreign investment companies.
Through other initiatives, His Majesty's government also provides scholarships through the Ministry of Education Scholarship, Islamic Studies Department Scholarship and Ministry of Defence Scholarship to students to further their studies at several renowned international universities. 143 students have received the Ministry of Education scholarship for the 2016/2017 academic session while 22 people received scholarships from the Islamic Studies Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs for 2016. All these are the government's efforts to realise a more excellent population education and academic achievement. The Get-Together and Junjung Ziarah Ceremony with the citizens and residents in Brunei Muara District ended with a Luncheon at the Dewan Persantapan Lapau.
At the function, His Majesty cut the birthday cake and received a pasambah. Doa selamat was read by Pengiran Doctor Haji Badaruddin Bin Pengiran Abdul Rahman, Syariah Subordinate Court Judge, Brunei Muara District.
Before leaving the function, His Majesty received junjung ziarah from members of the monarch's 71st birthday celebration national committee for Brunei Muara District.
