The opening ceremony of the OCTG threading plant and service centre located at the Salambigar Industrial Park is one of the indicators of the government's effort in attracting Foreign Direct Investment, FDI. Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamanteri Retired Colonel Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin Bin Haji Umar, The Minister of Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister's Office, stated the matter in an interview with RTB after the centre's opening ceremony.
Yang Berhormat Pehin said that the government's efforts include ensuring improvement of 'Ease of doing business' in Brunei Darussalam, adding that the reformations that are led by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince have shown improvement in terms of reducing bureaucracy in government administration. Touching on FDI projects in the country, Yang Berhormat Pehin said that 11 projects are already operational, 11 projects are still in the implementation phase, while 20 projects are in the early stages. Yang Berhormat Pehin added that the country very much focuses on FDIs that prioritise in country value, meaning that they provide spin-offs to Brunei Darussalam and locals, including small and medium enterprises.
