Initiative to Strengthen Tourism Industry Sustainability

Haikou: To equip tourism professionals with relevant language skills and cross-cultural understanding, the ASEAN-China Centre, ACC, organised the Chinese Language Training and Tourism Capacity Building Workshop. Held in Haikou, Hainan Province, People’s Republic of China until the 14th June, the workshop is to enhance participants’ linguistic proficiency, while also building a more culturally competent and customer-focused tourism workforce that is able to meet tourists’ expectations.

According to Radio Television Brunei, 69 participants, comprising travel agents, hoteliers, and tourism service providers from Brunei Darussalam, are attending the workshop virtually. Meanwhile, two participants will represent the country in person during the offline training session from 9th to 14th June 2025 in Haikou. As one of ACC’s flagship initiatives for the 2025 ASEAN-China Year of People-to-People Exchanges, the programme reflects a shared commitment to advancing regional cooperation and strengthening the tourism industry’s resilience through capacity building and human capital development.
