IPU and CPA Memberships Proposal Raised by Legislative Council

Bandar seri begawan: The Legislative Council’s proposal for full memberships in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) was the first item addressed. Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Suyoi bin Haji Osman, in presenting the proposal, emphasized the council’s longstanding status as an observer member within these organizations.

According to Radio Television Brunei, Yang Berhormat highlighted that acquiring full memberships in the IPU and CPA aligns with the national goal of fortifying the Legislative Council’s role. This move is seen as pivotal to elevating the country’s parliamentary capabilities, ensuring they are comparable to other established parliamentary systems globally.
