Jawi Spelling Competition Showcases Young Talent

Bandar Seri Begawan: 18 students from Years Three, Four and Five participated in the Final of the Jawi Spelling Competition for Government and Private Primary Schools Nationwide. It was organised by the Spiritual Activities Division, Department of Co-Curricular Education, Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Language and Literature Bureau and Radio Television Brunei. It took place this morning at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Girls Religious Arabic Secondary School, Kampung Katok.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the Year 3 Category was won by Siti Nur Areana Marissa Binti Abdul Azim from Orang Kaya Setia Bakti Kilanas Primary School. Year 4 Category was won by Nurfitriyah Zufairah Binti Ramli from Bengkurong Primary School, and champion of Year 5 Category was Nur Rasyida Shafa Binti Idris from Saint Andrew’s School. Prizes were presented by Awang Suip bin Haji Abdul Wahab, Acting Director of Language and Literature Bureau. The competition aimed to improve Jawi reading skills among students, as well as to cultivate Jawi literacy through reading.
