Khatam Al-Qur’an Ceremony Marks Sultan of Brunei’s 79th Birthday

Bandar seri begawan: The Ministry of Defence held a Khatam Al-Qur'an Ceremony in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 79th Birthday Celebration. The event took place at the Surau Al-Barakah, Royal Brunei Air Force Base, Rimba, on the morning of September 19. Similar ceremonies were conducted at all garrison suraus, camps, and bases of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, as well as at the Pulau Baru-Baru Mosque.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the ceremony commenced with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah, led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence. The event proceeded with the mass recitation of Lazim verses, Takhtim, and Tahlil, and concluded with the recitation of the Doa Khatam Al-Qur'an. The ceremony served as a special pesambah for His Majesty, as an expression of gratitude and a prayer for his continued longevity, good health, and reign over Brunei Darussalam.
