Brunei Darussalam is certainly no exception with the advancement towards the industrial revolution 4 point zero which is the era of producing a variety of new technologies that give effect to various disciplines, economy and industries including the aspect of language. The matter was stated by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports at the launching of the Language Month 2019, this morning at Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Masna Secondary School in Kampung Sungai Akar.
Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin believed that Malay Language is still preserved among the communities as long as the speakers continue to glorify and truly perpetuate it. This includes preparing skilled workforce in the technological world, enhancing human resource competency in mastering digital technology, developing authentic reference applications to highlight Malay language and literature development studies. Information technology is quicker in disseminating information or knowledge so that it can be shared globally.
The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports added that among the strategies that can be cultivated is to enrich and enhance the knowledge of Malay language through the publication of magazines, journals as well as books in the form of digital publications that can be accessed by the global community. Yang Berhormat said that this is time to grab the opportunity to empower the dissemination and internationalisation of the Malay Language as a Language of Knowledge. Malay Language as a Language of Knowledge at the global level can make the Malay Language be able to develop and become a reference for the global community to better know the Malay world and language. Thus, the global use of the Malay Language requires strong determination and ambition in fully supporting the opportunities that can raise the Malay Language in the international arena.
At the ceremony, 2 new books published by the Language and Literature Bureau, Gagasan Ketatanegaraan in Syair Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien and the Onomatopeia mini book were launched.
At the ceremony, judges of competition; the winners of several competitions and excellent students in the subjects of Malay Language and Malay Literature in the GCE 'O' and 'A' Level examinations received tokens of appreciation and prizes. The theme of the celebration is "Bahasa Melayu Bahasa Kita" or Malay Language, Our Language.
